Kozo Press, LLC produces exquisite small-run photographic editions and offers transformative workshops that combine mastery of processes with deep creative inquiry. Founded by photographers Rachel and Pradip Malde, Kozo Press is grounded in the belief that carefully crafted work embodies meaning and memory, and helps us better understand the world.
Kozo Press was founded with the vision of advancing the art and craft of photographic image-making and creative inquiry. The press takes its name from the kozo plant, whose fibers have been used for centuries to create some of the world’s most beautiful and enduring papers—a fitting metaphor for work that honors both tradition and transformation.
Drawing deeply from the practices and values of its founders, Kozo Press is committed to pairing masterful craft and creative pedagogy in every project.
Kozo Press produces meticulously curated, fine-quality, small-run print editions and publications, using innovative state-of-the-art digital carbon, platinotype, cyanotype, and silver gelatin printing techniques. The aim is to engage with and cultivate a compelling visual form—prints and publications where nuance, presence, and depth make for a visceral and inspiring experience of the beautiful. Each edition reflects a conviction that image, paper, chemistry, and creative intention embody meaning and memory.
The Press is also a space for education, offering both short- and long-term specialist workshops in creative process, technique, theory, and visual inquiry. These programs—intensive weekend workshops, transformative two-week experiences abroad, and year-long remote and in-person seminars—welcome passionate practitioners into immersive environments that nurture skill, individual vision, and community.
We recognize that thoughtfully made work shapes not only what we see, but how we understand our place within the world. It is through beauty that we aspire for the ideal, for truth. At its heart, Kozo Press is committed to conditioning our lives through the experience of the beautiful.
